Solberg Livery Challenges – Coming to DiRT Rally 2.0 this January

Por - em janeiro 21

Take home a piece of rallying history with the Solberg Livery Challenges, coming to DiRT Rally 2.0 in late January.

Petter Solberg Livery Challenge kicks off on January 24

Petter Solberg is one of the legends of off-road racing. In the early 2000s Petter was a top name on the world stage, driving the SUBARU Impreza to success in 13 rallies and winning the world title in 2003. Following this he became a superstar in the FIA World Rallycross Championship, dominating the 2014 and 2015 seasons in his Citroën DS3, earning him the notable record of being the first driver to become world champion in multiple FIA World Championship disciplines.

In 2019 Petter called time on his competitive driving career with the Farewell Tour, taking on hillclimbs, gymkhana and more. This culminated in the finale at Wales Rally where he took the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 and trusty co-driver Phil Mills (who calls your corners in DiRT Rally 2.0) for one last spin round the forests and Sweet Lamb. With such talent in the car it was inevitable that Solberg and Mills would take class victory, the perfect way to round out Solberg’s adventure in the sport.

With the Petter Solberg Livery Challenge it’s your turn to drive the same car and earn the livery from this final victory, check below for the details:

  • The Petter Solberg Livery Challenge begins on January 24 and lasts for 3 days.
  • Players can drive any R5 car at Monte Carlo and do not need to own the DLC location to take part.
  • When the event is closed, everybody that set a time will get the livery in their My Team Rewards.

Oliver Solberg Livery Challenge kicks off on January 31

Just as one chapter closes in the Solberg racing legacy another is about to begin. Petter’s son Oliver is following in his father’s footsteps and beginning his rallying career. After cutting his teeth in a Peugeot 208 R2 for 2 years he stepped up in a big way in 2019, driving the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 in Europe and the SUBARU WRX STI in America, the latter of which you can follow in SUBARU’s excellent Launch Control series on YouTube.

Oliver joined his father at the end of the Farewell Tour in Wales and was competitive in the same class, however his weekend ultimately ended with retirement due to car damage. As we publish this blog post today he’s making final preparations for Monte Carlo Rally (the 2020 rally season opener), taking the Volkswagen to the world stage.

The Oliver Solberg Livery Challenge sees you take on Wales in any R5 car, and as a reward you’ll get his Wales Rally livery for the Volkswagen Polo GTI R5.

  • The Oliver Solberg Livery Challenge begins on January 31 and lasts for 3 days.

Per-Inge Walfridsson Lancia Stratos Livery – Available Now

While we’re on the topic of the Solbergs now’s a good time to remind you of another livery in DiRT Rally 2.0.

Back in August we added a free livery to the Lancia Stratos, based on the one Per-Inge Walfridsson used in the 1970s. Walfridsson is Oliver’s grandfather and a rallying icon in his own right, and following the addition of the Solberg liveries we’re honoured to now have three generations of rallying history represented in DiRT Rally 2.0.
